Naturopath for Perimenopause
As a naturopath for perimenopause, I work with women who are beginning to notice changes in their hormones, energy, mood and metabolism, but don’t necessarily feel they’re getting clear answers. Sometimes symptoms are dismissed as “just ageing” or “just hormones”, but I don’t think that’s very helpful. Yes, perimenopause is a normal life stage, but that doesn’t mean you should have to white-knuckle your way through it.
At WHealth Naturopathy, my approach is about understanding what’s happening in your body and supporting you in a way that’s practical, personalised and evidence-informed. I don’t use one-size-fits-all hormone protocols, and I’m not here to throw a random supplement at every symptom and hope for the best. Perimenopause can involve shifting oestrogen and progesterone patterns, but it can also be influenced by stress, sleep, blood sugar, gut health, inflammation, thyroid function, nutrient status, alcohol intake, movement, nervous system load and overall metabolic health.
I’m especially interested in making care realistic. If you’re already exhausted, overwhelmed and barely getting through the week, the last thing you need is a 25-step wellness routine that makes you feel like you’re failing before you’ve even started. My goal is to help you understand your body and build a plan that actually fits your life.
I also see perimenopause as a really important opportunity to reassess your long-term health. This stage isn’t just about managing hot flushes or irregular periods; it’s also a time to support bone health, cardiovascular health, metabolic health, mood, sleep, libido, muscle mass and resilience for the years ahead.
You’re not broken, and you’re not being dramatic. Your body is changing, and it deserves support that’s thoughtful, thorough and tailored to you.
Perimenopause can feel like your body has started playing by a completely different set of rules.
One month your cycle is predictable, the next it’s early, late, heavy, light, painful or just generally doing whatever it likes. You might feel more anxious than usual, more irritable, less patient, more tired, less motivated, or like your sleep has suddenly forgotten how to sleep. Then there are the hot flushes, night sweats, breast tenderness, headaches, brain fog, bloating, weight changes, skin shifts, mood swings and that very specific feeling of “I just don’t feel like myself anymore”.
If that sounds familiar, you’re definitely not alone.
My Approach to Perimenopause Support
When we work together, we start with a detailed consultation to explore your cycle history, symptoms, mood, sleep, digestion, energy, diet, stress levels and broader health picture. Where appropriate, we may also look at pathology or functional testing to better understand what’s contributing to your symptoms. This might include hormone testing, thyroid markers, iron studies, blood sugar regulation, nutrient status or gut health investigations, depending on what’s relevant for you.
From there, I create a treatment plan that may include nutrition support, herbal medicine, targeted supplementation, lifestyle strategies and nervous system support.
For some women, the priority is stabilising blood sugar and improving sleep.
For others, it’s supporting progesterone, reducing inflammation, improving gut clearance of hormones, calming stress responses or addressing nutrient deficiencies.
Often, it’s a combination of several small but strategic changes that make the biggest difference.
Ready to feel more like yourself again?
If you’re looking for a naturopath for perimenopause who will take your symptoms seriously and help you make sense of what’s going on, I’d love to support you. Together, we can work towards steadier energy, calmer cycles, better sleep, more balanced moods and a clearer understanding of what your body needs through this transition.
