Naturopath for Postpartum Depletion in Perth
What postpartum depletion feels like
Postnatal depletion describes the drain on your nutrient stores and energy that having a baby can cause, especially when sleep is short and you are pouring so much into someone else. It can show up as:
• Ongoing fatigue that rest doesn’t seem to fix
• Brain fog and forgetfulness
• Feeling flat, low or easily overwhelmed
• Hair changes and brittle nails
• Feeling run down or getting sick often
One quick and important note: postnatal depletion is not the same as postnatal depression or anxiety. If your mood, your worry or your ability to cope is a concern, please talk to your GP or child health nurse. My support sits alongside that care, never in place of it.
Looking at what is going on with functional testing
When the fatigue is stubborn, I would rather understand why than guess. Where it is useful, DUTCH hormonal testing can show how your hormones are recovering, and gut microbiome testing can reveal how well you are absorbing and using what you eat. Your plan is then built around your body rather than a generic checklist.
If you are months, or even years, past giving birth and still feel wrung out, foggy and not quite yourself, you’re not imagining it and you’re not failing. The demands of pregnancy, birth and feeding can leave your body genuinely depleted, and "just tired because I’m a mum" does not have to be the whole story.
I’m Ashleigh, a Perth-based naturopath, and I help women rebuild their energy and nutrient reserves after having a baby, with a food-first, evidence-based approach that works alongside your GP and maternal health team.
A food-first approach to rebuilding your reserves
My focus is on replenishing what has been drawn down, and food is where that starts. We look at how you are eating in the reality of new-parent life, not some ideal version of it, and build from there: steady energy across the day, enough of the nutrients your body leans on after birth, and meals that are actually achievable when you are short on time and sleep.
Around that, we work gently on the other pillars - rest where you can find it, movement that feels good rather than punishing, and the support network around you. Where it helps, I use targeted nutritional support, chosen for your situation and, if you’re breastfeeding, with that firmly in mind, always alongside your GP.
What to expect working with me
I’m based in Subiaco and see women across Perth, including Fremantle and the inner suburbs, in person or online. There’s no judgement in my clinic and no expectation that you have it all together - just a realistic, gentle plan and someone in your corner (I’m also more than happy to work alongside your GP and maternal health team).

Some Frequently Asked Questions I Hear About Postpartum Depletion
-
No. Postnatal depletion is about your physical energy and nutrient reserves, while postnatal depression and anxiety are mental health conditions that need medical support. If you are worried about how you’re feeling, please speak with your GP or child health nurse. I’m happy to support your general health alongside that care.
-
Yes, many of the mums I see are breastfeeding, and I choose any support with that in mind and in step with your doctor.
